I write quite a lot.

Lately, I write mostly my PhD dissertation, which focuses on how people who lived nearly 9,000 years ago in a place that is now called Çatalhöyük (Turkey) used to paint their house walls and living spaces. Before Çatalhöyük, I spent some time doing research on animal depictions at the even older site of Göbekli Tepe, also in Turkey. I keep an updated list of my academic publications here.

I also enjoy writing creative non-fiction, and sometimes poetry, which I have done for years in my notebooks — all strictly with dotted pages and brightly colored covers. I might end up publishing some of that here. A few years ago, I also used to post on another blog called italoturchese where I would write (in Italian) and share photos about my cultural encounters and travels all around Turkey.

Scrivo un bel po’.

Ultimamente scrivo soprattutto la mia tesi di dottorato, che si occupa dei dipinti lasciati sui muri delle loro case da gente vissuta quasi 9000 anni fa in un posto che oggi si chiama
Çatalhöyük (Turchia). Prima di Çatalhöyük, mi sono occupato delle sculture e bassorilievi di un altro sito ancora più antico, Göbekli Tepe, anch’esso in Turchia. Puoi trovare una lista aggiornata delle mie pubblicazioni accademiche qui.

Mi piace anche scrivere prosa autobiografica e a volte anche poesia — rigorosamente in taccuini a pagine puntate dalle copertine sgargianti. Forse mi deciderò a pubblicare un po’ di questa roba su questo sito. Qualche anno fa tenevo anche un blog sui miei incontri e avventure in giro per la Turchia, dal titolo italoturchese.
