Translating is my way of contributing to the diffusion of texts I value across language barriers and of reclaiming practice in my native language while immersed in a predominantly English-speaking environment. I truly enjoy the daily exercise of translating, the search for the one word that sounds and reads right, the crafting of cleanliness and flow outside of a text’s original habitat.
As my first translation project, I curated the Italian edition of Tim Ingold’s Making, published in 2019 by Raffaello Cortina Editore. It is a beautiful book that investigates human creativity bringing together anthropology, archaeology, art, and architecture, and inviting us to rethink making in a way that is respectful of the materials of life and acknowledges their essential contribution to everything we make.
Tradurre è il mio modo di contribuire alla diffusione di testi che apprezzo oltre le barriere linguistiche, e di ritagliarmi spazi di esercizio nella mia lingua in un ambiente prevalentemente anglofono. Mi piace molto la pratica quotidiana del tradurre, con la sua costante ricerca del termine giusto e la resa del carattere e del fluire di un testo al di fuori del suo habitat originario.
Come mio primo progetto di traduzione, ho curato l’edizione italiana di Making di Tim Ingold, èdito nel 2019 da Raffaello Cortina Editore. Making è un libro molto bello che indaga la creatività umana combinando antropologia, archeologia, arte e architettura, e ripensando il creare in chiave ecologista come un processo in cui artefici e materiali sono in corrispondenza reciproca nella generazione della forma.
